Love Hate Relationship 5-29-13

Here is this weeks sketch over at Let's Scrap

For my layout I used the left hand side of the sketch & flipped it

Here is my layout - Love Hate Relationship

These two love each other & then all of a sudden want to kill each other. At 1st it was not like this but as they get older it seems to be getting worse!!!

      The Challenge:

One Photo on a Single Page Challenge

Very welcome to my One Photo on a Single Page Challenge!!
I enjoyed it so much putting this together as a Challenge for our NSD in May happenings, so here we go:

Find inspiration from this quote… it can be any word that rocks your boat ~ use your imagination!!
I’d like to be as good as
my dog thinks I am.
To be as rich as
my kids think I am.
And be as beautiful as
my Mother thinks I am.

You may use only one Photo for this Challenge.

I would like you to stay as close to the sketch as possible.
The heart can be cut out from paper, painted or drawn in by doodling.

Wool, Yarn, Fibres or Felt
Washy Tape
Anything with or that resembles Chevron
Flowers ~ at least 1 Handmade Flower
Inks/Paint for the spatters all over the page
Doodling {also if chosen to doodle the heart}

The Sketch ~ 5-9-13 '

Here is my take on the sketch: Mom & Me

I made my own washy tape & you can find the tutorial here. Instead of using paint/inks for splatters all over the page I used wax crayons for this effect (the green dots here & there). I used my heart stamp for the large heart & white paint to stamp with.

To Be Or Not To Be - Sketch 5-22-12

Here is this weeks sketch over at Let's Scrap
Here is my take on the sketch - To Be Or Not To Be

These are pictures of my daughter Shanice. The reason I did this layout is because we have the discussion about modeling almost everyday. One day she wants to be a model & the next day she has changed her mind!

NSD challenge #14 Tribute to Mothers

The Challenge:
'Besides the fact that the subject needs to be your mom you must also use the following ‘ingredients’:
  • Use a Let’s Scrap card sketch to make a LO
  • One word title
  • Pearls or bling
  • Use your handwriting for a quote or journaling about your mom on your LO. (see tips)
  • Sew, either by hand or machine
  • Folding, some sort of folding needs to be done on your page (see tips)'

I chose Let's Scrap sketch 5-13-12 & my layout is based on the left side of the sketch.

NSD Challenge #5 - Sketch Challenge

The Challenge:
'Using only the sketch provided use pictures only of yourself and focus on the journaling which must include why you scrapbook or what scrapbooking means to you.  You may flip, turn, reverse the sketch in any way you want to use it as long as it meets the criteria.
Criteria: use sketch 5-10-13, include pictures only of yourself, journaling must include what scrapbooking means to you.'

I really battle with journaling & this took me quite a while to finish, but I got it done!!! I used My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software for this layout.

Now I'm off to start on the next layout for one of the NSD challenges over at Let's Scrap.

Challenge No. 17 - Chipboard Challenge

Here is the latest challenge over at Scrap Africa: ' This challenge is to use at least 1 chipboard on your project!'

Here is my entry for this challenge

Here are close ups of my chipboard butterflies

Method I used for my butterflies:

1. I chalked the butterfly using my dark brown chalk
2. I then wet the chipboard butterfly
3. I then split the chipboard layer for layer & then rumpled it up a bit. Leave it in the sun to dry.
4. I then added some glimmer mist & left it to dry.

May 1st Challenge @

'Hello everyone, we here at About a Girl (AAG) are so excited today, why you may ask?  Because it is our very first FULL challenge here at AAG!  We hope that you enjoyed our mini sketch challenge and now you are ready for the big leagues!  Since this IS our first challenge I would like to get to know the little ladies your life.  So I would like for you to create a layout of your choosing introducing her or them to us.  Please include her/their names somewhere on the page.  It can be in your title or your journaling, or hidden journaling just tell us it’s there.  That's the only criteria for this challenge, easy right?
This month's challenge is being sponsored by 7Dots Studios.   7 Dots Studio was born in October 2011 from dreams and for dreams -and it is a baby of a group of scrapbooking friends, who created a perfect team having different experiences and skills connected to scrapbooking industry. From the very beginning we intended to create a scrapbooking brand providing great mixed-media quality papers with a bit alternative look. We wanted to be as versatile as possible – from clean, graphic designs to mixed-media, grungy collage look. I think we achieved our goals and we’re happy to see that many crafters and artists are interested in our designs!  You can check out 7Dots at

Please upload your layout to the right and label it with your name and date of challenge, for example: Brenshevia –May. 1.   You have until May 28th to upload both challenges.  I can’t wait to see all the wonderful layouts featuring the young ladies in your life and please don’t forget to mention us on your blogs!  Remember you can't win if you don't play!  Also please remember to link your entry back directly to your post so we can comment.  Thanks!'
