I am looking for dedicated design team members for a term running from September 2012 – February 2013.

You will be required to submit at the very least 2 out of 4 sketches per month. More often than not, the sketches are given to you 1- 1 1/2 months in advance. There's plenty of time to complete them. You only have to do one side of the two pagers, if that's what you desire. Also, if you want to submit an application JUST for Two Pagers, that's great! Each layout is due the Sunday before it gets posted.

Also, your layout MUST resemble the sketch. I have to be able to tell that you started using that week's sketch. You can flip it, add photos, change where the title goes, etc.

Each new DT member is required to promote this challenge blog wherever/whenever allowed.

Most of all, Have FUN!!!

If you feel you can meet these requirements, please submit a layout based on the sketch below, along with your information and links to any of your galleries to shawneerie17@yahoo.com no later than 11:00 p.m. on July 31. I look forward to seeing what you create :)

Sketch # 7 & Web Effect Tutorial

This is sketch #7 over at Scrap Africa.

Sketch7

Here is my take on the sketch

SA Cherish the time spent together

Here are close-ups of my handmade flowers & gold web effect.

Close Up 2

Close Up 1

This all started when I was busy with my take on sketch 7 over at Scrap Africa.  I remember kids in school playing with their Pritt. They would rub the glue between their fingers & make a web on the opening at the back of the Pritt.

How to create this effect:

You will need a very sticky glue & fine glitter. I used Bostik because it’s nice & sticky.

WB 2

Then get the glue between your 2 fingers & slowly separate them. So you get a long thin line of glue

WB 3

Now you are going to put these long thin glue lines over your paper. You are going to do this until you are happy with the web like pattern you are creating

WB 4

Now you will sprinkle your glitter onto the paper

WB 5

Shake off the excess glitter & leave to dry. Once it has dried you can now use it for your scrapbook layout or card

WB 6

Here is the card I made using this effect

For You Card

For You
Products Used: Enmarc Crafts Crest Deco Frame, KaiserCraft Miss Match Collection papers, Prima flower & Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers.

Chipboard treatment I used for the chipboard frame:

I used ‘Color Box’ fluid chalk ink pad; dark brown to colour the frame. I then sprayed Simmer Magic (Midnight Blue) into a small container & the used a cotton bud to add bits of blue to the frame. Then I put a cotton bud in some water & used it to blend the colours, & then used the dark brown (fluid chalk pad) to go over it again. I left it to dry & then added my rhinestones. Then I covered the frame with dimensional glaze & whilst the glaze was still wet I added gold dust to it.

Pocket Notebook & Pen Holder

Pocket

I keep all broken clothing in a box & took these pockets off a pair of ripped corduroy pants to make my notebook & pen holder.

I used chipboard for the backing & covered it with dark brown vinyl. I then used Bostik to glue the pocket onto the chipboard. Then using Bostik I glued the smaller pocket onto the large pocket & left it to dry. I then used scraps of denim to make my rose. Then I stared decorating the pocket using my rose, Enmarc Crafts tags & bling. I also used Bostik to glue down the bling, for me Bostik is the best glue to use when gluing things onto fabric.

SK8R Boy Saturday Sketch: July 2012 #1 & Scrap Africa Challenge # 6 - Color Combo

SK8R Boy

Here is the challenge over at Scrap Africa

Together with this challenge we want you to learn a little bit of geography ;-)

How many of you actually know how does South African flag look like?

If you didn't know before now you will know!

Here it is:

Colorful, isn't it? But we think that it is pretty inspiring as well!

So here is the challenge for you:

use at least 3 colors featured on the flag in your project.

You can use: black, white, red, green, blue or yellow.

Additionally you can add grey, cream of beige.

No other color can be used!

The colors on your photographs are not taken into account -

it doesn't count towards the minimum 3 and it can be any color.

Another thing to make it clear:

you are not required to use precise colors as it is on the flag but! -

green must be green and blue must be blue.

It should be yellow and not orange, and it should be red and not pink.

Please feel free to ask us if you need to know anything else.

***************

Products Used: KaiserCraft Attitude Collection.

For this layout I used black, red, white & grey. I based my layout on the KaiserCraft Saturday Sketch: July 2012 #1
